Circle Time

It's Circle Time!!!!!

What's the Weather?!?!
We always begin circle time with the weather.  The weather helper chooses a friend to help with this job.  The 2 preschoolers open the back door of the preschool to see and feel the weather.  Then, run to the carpet, excitedly yelling the weather report to the class!!!

They dress the frog.

They place the weather words on the board and move the arrow on the picture matching the weather.

Name Fun!!
The rest of the class gets restless while the weather helpers are completing this process.  Therefore, I began having the preschoolers line up at the name wall to find their names then, make a line in front of me to spell their 1st name, when they master 1st names, they progress to learning last names, next Birthday's, then sight words.

After they spell their names they hang their name tags on the attendance board with their hand prints.

Notice the attendance board behind our little Ninja??? :)

After they finish this process they line up in front of the flag holder to get the letter of the week stamped on their right hands.

Calendar
The preschoolers LOVE to shout out the answers to the questions asked during this time!
Questions:
1 -  How many months are in a year?
2 -  What is the month?
3 -  How many days are in a week?

We recite the 12 months to a pat, pat, clap pattern.
We rap the days of the week to "Days of the Week Rap Back" by Jack Hartmann
The counting helper uses the pointer to point to each day as we rap the song together.

The counting helper identifies the day of the week.  I also ask questions like:
1 - What 2 days are in the weekend?
2 - What day comes after Wednesday?
3 - What day comes before Tuesday?
4 - What day will it be the next time you come to school?

Next, the class counts together as the counting helper points to each number to determine the date.

Before, the counting helper places the correct number on the calendar they all guess what comes next in the pattern.

Then, the counting helper points to each number and the class says the pattern in unison.

If they guessed correctly, the preschoolers pat themselves on their back's:)

Pledge of Allegiance
The students place their right hand (the hand with the letter stamp) on their hearts.  The flag holder stands in front of the class holding the American flag as the class says the Pledge of Allegiance together.

Show and Share!!! (Every Thursday and Friday)

Exercise Time
Each student chooses an exercise for the class to perform as a group (push ups, jumping jacks, sit ups etc.). The date determines the reps.
Yes, at times we do 31 push ups!!!
Twists!
Karate Kicks!

Time to hop on over for snack!
The preschoolers hop in to each shape and name the shape before they sit for snack.

Snack Time!!
