Letter S

Letter S

1. Draw a game card.

2. Identify the number on the card and add that number of marshmallows to your snowball card.

3. The first one to fill all the snowballs wins!!!

Snow S!
The preschoolers wrote "S” on blue construction paper, most of them were able to accomplish this task with ease.

Then, they traced  "S" with glue, then shaving cream and again with more glue.

They Stretched apart the cotton balls and put the "snow" on their “S”.

Prior to this snowy craft we read the book "There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow!"  by: Lucille Colandro

Hot Cocoa Sensory Cloud Dough
Ingredients:
1 box chocolate cake mix
12 individual packets of Hot Cocoa
All Purpose Flour
Vegetable Oil
Mini Marshmallows

I found the recipe for cloud dough when I was exploring the Internet for a fun sensory activity for our fall festival.  I discovered Candy Corn Cloud Dough at www.growingajeweledrose.com

I decided to make a winter theme related sensory activity for our Christmas Celebration and the preschoolers had so much fun adding cocoa packets, drawing the letter J and licking their fingers, that I saved it for winter fun.

I dumped the chocolate cake mix into a large bin. Then, gave each preschooler a packet of hot cocoa to pour in the bin, most preschoolers began mixing and patting the chocolate powder, and others just enjoyed the heavenly taste of cocoa!
In the midst of the organized and messy chaos, I asked them to write the letter J for Jesus in the powder.

I poured in some oil  (I didn't measure the oil, just estimated and had flour on hand to fix the problem if I added too much).  We kneaded the concoction (mostly tasted).  That's as far as we got at the party.
When we returned to school after Christmas vacation, we added more flour and oil and marshmallows, and Walla,  Hot Cocoa Cloud Dough!

After snack and exploring Hot Cocoa Sensory Dough
we wanted to make sure our table was clean, so we broke out the the shaving cream, spread it on the table and practiced writing the letter S, as we watched and sang the "Letter S Song"  video on You Tube by: Have Fun Learning.
