F is for feet!
We had another fun-filled week, beginning with feet painting. Wow! It is an absolute joy to see the excitement and eagerness of participation in this activity:-) Some of the kiddos were hesitant, and the others were leaping with excitement waiting for their turn...
"The Foot Book" by: Dr. Seuss coincides perfectly with this activity. We transitioned in the classroom with giant feet, small feet, slippery duck feet and penguin feet.
We practiced finger painting, doting, rainbow tracing and writing the letter Ff, discovering letter Ff does NOT wear shoes (big line down, frog jump up, hat and belt)! The class was tickled silly to learn about, barefoot F :-)
F is for Fall
We made a class fall tree! Wondering why I chose brown paint for feet painting??? The students used their feet to paint the tree trunk. During Autumn Fun week, we painted leaves with a mixture of shaving cream, paint and glue and painted designs on paper using acorns. We used these projects to decorate the fall tree.
We used the acorn painting papers to construct fall leaves and the end result is BUEATIFUL! This is what we did:
Materials: painted acorns glued on construction paper, real leaves, markers or crayons, scissors and glue.
Procedure:
~ Enjoy a leaf hunt and collect large leaves.~ Choose a favorite leaf, acorn paper and a marker. Trace around the leaf on the paper (be sure to include the acorns).
~ Use scissors to cut around the traced leaf.
~ Glue the paper leaf on to the real leaf.
~ Admire your work of art!
Developmental Skills practiced:
~ Name practice: spelling and tracing/writing first name.~ Fine motor practice: Grasp writing tools with proper pencil grip, manipulate scissors properly, tracing and gluing objects.
~ Color recognition: name the color of the leaves, paint, markers, paper and acorns.
~ One-to-One Correspondence Counting: count leaves, acorns, students, teachers, etc.
~ Social Development: take turns, share and cooperate.

F is for Frog!
We played Leap Frog!
We dressed the Weather Frog every school day.
Step 1: Go outside and check the weather. What color is the sky? What do you see in the sky? What do you hear? Is the wind blowing or is it quiet and still? How does the temperature feel? Are you hot, warm, cool, or cold?
Step 2: Go into the classroom and dress the frog to coincide with the current weather.
Step 3: Look at the weather wheel and put the arrow on the picture that displays the current weather.
Step 4: Look at the weather words. Find the word that matches the current weather.
Step 5: Describe the weather to the class.

F is for Farm and Fairy. During free play the students constructed 2 puzzles: a Farm and Fairy Castle.
F is for Friday Fall Festival! The week ended with Fun, Fun, FUN!!!
We made candy corn feet.
We constructed F's on Fire!
We explored Candy Corn Cloud Dough. This activity was a class favorite! I found the recipe at www.growingajeweledrose.com This website has splendid recipes for fun! Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:One box of vanilla cake mix
One box of white cake mix
7 cups of flour
1 cup of vegetable oil
1/2 cup of orange powdered tempera paint
vanilla extract
Pour all the ingredients into a bowl or container, mix and enjoy!
I used carrot cake mix and this made the dough smell YUMMY!!!

Spider Fingers!
Fall Trees! We are creating beautiful Fall center pieces. I found this idea at www.housingaforest.com This another website loaded with fabulous and engaging activities. This is what we did:
Materials: twigs, construction paper, bark, tin cans, boiling water, and a blender.
Directions: cut paper in squares and put it in containers by color. Pour boiling water in the containers and let the paper soak for a few hours. Collect twigs, then fill the can with bark and poke the twigs in the middle. After the paper is ready, stick the paper on the twigs (no glue). Allow to dry and enjoy!!
