Olympics Day!

O is for Olympics!!!!

On your mark, get set, go!!!  They raced around the track, motivated to win!

Running and racing, for most preschoolers, is hands down fun!  Some children take delight in running, merely for pleasure.   Running offers children a chance  to use some of their, essentially, boundless energy.

Stick javelin throw: The mission was to use a stick and launch it through the air to see who can get it the farthest!
The students took turns standing behind the line and trying to throw a stick javelin the farthest.

We grabbed some sidewalk chalk to mark where the stick landed.

Once each student had a turn, we checked to see who threw the stick the farthest.

Football Toss:
Throw the football as far as you can.

We Gave the students a football to throw.  We showed the students how to grip the football and demonstrated  how to throw the ball.  We instructed each student to bend their arm at the elbow and hold the football over their shoulder, then step forward with one foot and extend the arm, as hard as possible to throw the football.

We used sidewalk chalk to mark where the football landed.

Step 2: We taught the students how to grasp the Frisbee by  placing their thumbs on the top of the Frisbee,  index fingers along the edge and other fingers underneath it.

Step 3: We taught the students how to throw the Frisbee - Stand with your elbow close to your body.  With a smooth and speedy movement, flick your wrist toward you, then away, tossing the Frisbee.

Step 4: The students took turns throwing the Frisbee as far as they could.  (We used sidewalk chalk to  indicate  where the Frisbee landed, each time.)
